Search Engine Friendly Websites (SEF)
Not all websites are created equal, and although this may not always be so aparent to typical web users - the fact remains that search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and MSN actually understand only certain coding languages.
If your thinking; German, Hebrew, Chinese, etc - you would be partly correct. Search Engines can only understant certain CODING languages... Others, they can decipher - mostly because they have no relevance to 'keywords' or have their keywords embedded into 'self-contained' files.
Not all coding languages are the same - just like German is different to English. Some coding languages are so complex in their proprietary make-up that they have to embed codecs and other support devices - just to ensure a web browsers can read them and display them as intended. And if you own a mac, you've probably already noticed that a majority of these codecs are only available for the PC. This is why every now and then, you have to download a new browser plugin for software applications such as; flash, shockwave, real player, quicktime, etc. just to VIEW a website.
Now, we're not here to debate wether or not this is a good thing or not (although we do have our opinion on the matter), but rather explain how this plays a role is using certain types of code (such as 'flash') - or construction methods (such as using 'frames') bear a HUGE impact of wether or not a search engine can actually read (and index) the information you have to offer to your viewers and website users.
So... In case you missed it - Not all websites are created equal!
This is neither good - nor bad news, depending on which side of the desk your sitting at.
