The Challenge / Objective
Chrystal Foods of Western Australia commissioned Nelson Martins Design to revamp the Nachos Mexican Corn Chips Range, which was currently being sold with tired old graphics and branding. The product itself was one of the biggest selling range of corn chips for making Nachos at home.

 

 

The Strategy / Process
Nelson Martins Design began its research by analysing the existing corn chip market, while being mindful of the existing customer base that already purchased the Nachos Mexican Corn Chips. The strategy was to add “appetite appeal” to the packaging, retain the CORE elements of the design, while refreshing everything on the pack, including the existing logo, in order to compete with the major players within the Corn Chip “snack” category.

 

  The Solution / Result
The solution provided for Chrystal Foods was fresher looking pack, with updated graphics as well as appetite appeal with the usage of food photography, with a clearly “Mexican” flavor, which included a Nachos Recipe on the back of the pack. The new design elements introduced provided a better range of visual cues for both product and brand differentiation.
